Since 2014, he has directed The Hispanic Council, a think tank that promotes relations between Spain and the United States, and is head of the Observatory on US Hispanic Politics at the Instituto de Empresa. He is a columnist for El Confidencial, where he writes mainly on US politics.
As a consultant, he has extensive experience in the corporate sphere in sectors such as distribution, energy, technology, banking, transportation, motoring, healthcare, etc. In the field of political communication, he has worked with a long list of political leaders, governments, and parties at national and international levels.
Throughout his career, he has been distinguished with several international awards. In 2016, the British publication The Holmes Report included him in the “Innovator 25” ranking, which selects the most innovative leaders in the field of communication, reputation, and influence at a European level. Previously, the US magazine Campaigns & Elections awarded him the Rising Star award, being the first Spanish consultant to receive it. He has also received several Pollie Awards from the American Association of Political Consultants (AAPC). In 2017 he was included in the ranking of the “100 most influential political professionals” by Washington COMPOL magazine and in 2018 one of his campaigns won a Reed Award as the best European video of the year.
He has been president of the Association of Political Communication (ACOP); vice-president of the European Association of Political Consultants (EAPC) and member of the Board of Directors of ADECEC, the association that brings together the main communication consultancies in Spain.
For more than 10 years he has directed the international seminars on Political Communication at The George Washington University in Spain and is co-author of the books El Lobby en España, ¿asignatura pendiente? , Comunicación Política: nuevas dinámicas y ciudadanía permanente and El debate de los debates España USA 2008, published by the Academia de la Televisión.
As a lecturer, he has been invited by entities such as Brookings Institution, Harvard University, OSCE, National Democratic Institute, International Republican Institute, Konrad Adenauer Foundation, Friedrich Ebert Foundation, as well as universities and institutions in Spain, the United States, Mexico, Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Panama, Portugal, Denmark, Switzerland, Austria, Serbia, Poland, Slovenia, Croatia, Romania, Uzbekistan, Turkey, and Ukraine.
He holds a degree in Journalism from the University of Navarra and completed his training in Political Management at The George Washington University (Washington, D.C.), at IESE with a program in General Management (PDD), at the University of Alcalá with a Master’s degree in North American Studies and at the Centro Superior de Estudios de la Defensa Nacional (CESEDEN) of the Ministry of Defence.
